About
Hi, I'm Tejas.
I'm a Staff Software Engineer on Discovery & Personalisation at JioHotstar (Disney+ Hotstar). Over eight years I've focused on consumer platforms at extreme scale — mostly frontend and full-stack around React, Next.js, and Go, with a soft spot for design systems, server-driven UI, and UIs that still work when tens of millions of people show up for the same match.
Impact I'm proud of
- Hotstar X — helped architect a server-driven UI platform (Next.js + Go) that ships to 25+ countries, so product can iterate without being blocked on app releases alone.
- Peak traffic — led engineering on masthead and IA work for T20 Cricket World Cup 2026, including a world-record 72.5M concurrent users at peak with zero downtime; earlier peaks like 59M+ at Cricket World Cup 2023.
- Everywhere you watch — discovery across web and living-room (Xbox, PlayStation, Samsung TV, LG) with consistent, high-performance UI under very different constraints.
- Hotstar Soul — core contributor to a design system of 100+ widgets across six platforms.
- Patent & award — granted Indian patent on on-device content personalisation (hybrid ML / rules-based ranking); JioHotstar Inventor Award for that work.
Before Hotstar
At HashedIn by Deloitte I built telehealth and fitness products (React / React Native) used by millions — including cure.fit flows and Care.fit during COVID lockdowns. That's where I learned how much I care about end-to-end ownership and crisp mobile performance.
More about me
I'm a huge tennis fan — I follow the tour, obsess over matches, and generally love sports. Whenever I can steal time on a court I'm out there; my backhand is still terrible (we all have our crosses to bear), but the joy is in showing up. Staying fit and active matters a lot to me — it keeps me grounded when work gets intense.
I love learning new things and building stuff that makes people pause and smile. Off-screen, I wish I read more than I do — life gets loud — but I still reach for literature, philosophy, and great television when I can. Lately I've been polishing my chess — slow games, long thinks, the whole deal.
Travel is a big source of happiness. The photo below is from one of my favourite trips: my first time in Paris, in 2023, to watch Roland Garros in person — clay, crowds, and a week I still think about often.
Where I am
I live in Bangalore, India 🇮🇳. I'm open to interesting opportunities globally — remote, hybrid, or relocation for the right team.
